Leadership Lessons we can Learn from Star Wars

Leadership Lessons we can Learn from Star Wars

May the Fourth be With You!

Happy Star Wars day to all fans!

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, a story so epic was created that it was discussed for years to come.

Perhaps the reason we still discuss Star Wars so much is because there is still a lot to learn and take from the stories.

Of course, we are most interested in leadership – the good, the bad and the ugly!

Being Born with Talent is not Enough

As we all know, Luke Skywalker is born with a natural talent to be a Jedi, but he does not get given a free pass to be a Jedi.

In fact, he is sent to spend a lot of time in the swamp developing his talent and homing in on how to use the force.

There are traits that are good in leadership, but true leadership takes practice, self-reflection and mentoring.

Adaptability is Key

All of the Star Wars movies demonstrate that life does not always go to plan, so if you are rigid and stuck in your ways, you’re not always going to win.

From Han Solo adapting to a broken hyperdrive and hiding by the rubbish chute instead and surprise alliances along the way, if you’re able to adapt and think quickly, you’re able to lead a team through surprises.

It’s Okay to ask for Help

Sometimes you can’t get yourself out of a situation without calling for someone else.

When Princess Leia is in a bind, she knows the right people to call and she asks for help without hesitation.

Sometimes good leaders need other good leaders to advise them.

Chasing Power is the Path to the Dark Side

Leaders undeniably have power, but leadership is about so much more than that.

Once you begin to be attracted to and chase power, you’re headed to the dark side.

Good management is not about keeping or flouting power, it’s about people, good ideas and so much more.

Whatever your leadership endeavours, we aim to help!

From leadership and management courses, to plenty of advice from our most trusted managers, online resources and tutors available to access remotely and globally recognised qualifications, we can help level up your career and help you achieve your goals.

May the fourth be with you on your journey!

Ideas for life – no more resolutions

Why most of us fail? If you are in the incredible 20% of people who hit their resolutions every year, congratulations! You are a rare breed 🙌🥳👏 For the rest of us, it is mostly a journey downwards into a spiral of failure, guilt, and frustration which circles back to thinking less of ourselves and hardly ever making us feel good or achieve anything meaningful. Most of us fail for three main reasons: Lack of clarity, Unreasonable expectations, and Lack of inspiration or passion.
